11 commandments of lacrosse
Fundamentals and habits that make better players and stronger teams.
- 01
Catch, throw, and shoot with both your left and right hands.
- 02
Keep your stick perpendicular to the ground—not parallel to it.

Do not hold the ball in your stick. Keep it moving.
- 04
Move the ball immediately after gaining possession of a loose ball.
- 05
Learn to move without the ball and create space for teammates.
- 06
Move to the ball. Never wait for a pass to reach you.
- 07
Protect your stick with your body and smart positioning.
- 08
See the field before receiving the ball and know your next play.
- 09
Communicate constantly. Great teams talk on offense and defense.
- 10
Value possession, support your teammates, and play unselfishly.
- 11
Defenders do not need to take the ball away to play great defense.
